How does an artist create?
To find how an artist creates a piece of art,
you must understand the movement of the creative mind of the artist.
You must understand the feeling which is the motive of her work.
Let us then apply this principle to the Universal Spirit which creates the Universe;
To find how its work.
To understand the feeling which is the motive of its work.
Because the way an artist creates is like the way the Universal Spirit creates.
The work of an artist, whether it is a book, a song or a picture, is a piece of original creation on a small scale;
Because the artist in a sense creates her work out of nothing.
She starts from a standpoint of simple feeling, and not from pre-existing necessity.
This is different from the work of an engineer, which is constructive; or the work of a scientist, which is analytical.
This is the same way the Universal Spirit also creates.
It starts creating from a standpoint of simple feeling.
Because, at the point when It begins to create, there is nothing to make it to create one thing or another.
And since there are no external conditions to make it create, you can say it creates by acting upon itself.
The Universal Spirit creates by reaching out to become everything it feels itself to be.
It starts creating from a feeling.
And this is the original feeling you need to enter into because it is the beginning of all creation.
It is the feeling of the Spirit of Life.
