In my previous letters, we saw that the Spirit is what causes something to exist.
And if we want to enjoy all the benefits that something can give,
we need to enter into the spirit of the thing.
Then we saw that the Spirit of Life is Life, Intelligence and Volition.
And it works by reaching out to become all that it feels itself to be.
And this feeling is its motive.
So the question is,
What is the feeling of the Spirit?
Since the Spirit is Life-in-itself, it can only have one feeling (tendency);
to express more Life.
That is to say,
The Spirit has an inherent tendency to create more Life.
Or simply, the Spirit tends to create Life.
It has to be so because any other feeling will be self-destructive and is therefore impossible to imagine.
Now, expressing more life implies happiness.
And happiness implies harmony.
And harmony implies order.
And order implies proportion.
And proportion implies beauty.
Therefore as the Spirit tends to create more life,
It also tends to create happiness, harmony, order, proportion and beauty.
And since the desire to give more joyous life can only be described as Love,
we can sum up the whole feeling (tendency) which causes the Spirit to move, as Love and Beauty.
That is to say;
the Spirit expresses itself through forms of beauty in centers of life, in harmonious reciprocal relation to Itself.
This is the general principle by which the Spirit of Life expands from the innermost to the outermost, by a law of tendency inherent in itself.
The Spirit sees itself reflected in various centers of life and energy, each having its appropriate form.
But it is important to know that these centers of life came out of the Spirit.
So they begin as mental images in the Spirit.
Therefore, in addition to the powers of Intelligence and Selection, the Spirit also has the power of Imagination.
And all these powers work from the motive of love and beauty.
Now, this is the Spirit of Life we need to enter into.
But how do we do that?
